Dr. Chad Deal’s Surgical Artistry: Southern Surgical Arts Is Thriving Through the Pandemic

Among the industries hit by the COVID-19 pandemic, that of cosmetic surgery has been struggling due to concerns regarding the risk of transmission in elective medical procedures. However, it hasn’t been a huge concern for Dr. Chad Deal and Southern Surgical Arts. Demand for cosmetic surgery has actually increased amidst increased face time caused by constant video meetings and get-togethers. This has made cosmetic surgery one of the industries where the right adaptations can allow a company to distinguish itself and find even greater success.

Evolve or Dissolve

Founder of Southern Surgical Arts, Dr. Chad “HiDef” Deal, had the advantage of correctly predicting the sheer impact of the pandemic on his industry as early as March 2020. Acting on this prediction, he quickly mobilized his company to move toward a range of different online and video content. This includes promotional but educational video content, virtual consultations, and even memes, all of which worked effectively to grow Southern Surgical Arts despite the pandemic.

To deliver on these adaptations, Dr. Deal had to work 12 to 15 hours a day from home, personally holding as many as 20 consultations a day. These adaptations, however, were not the only reasons for the success of Dr. Deal and Southern Surgical Arts. Another primary contributor is the culture of quality and success they cultivated even before the pandemic.

A History of Quality

With over 4,800 successful cosmetic surgery procedures, Dr. Deal has defined himself through surgical skill and artistic vision in order to earn a variety of awards, including Best Cosmetic Surgeon in Chattanooga for 2016 and 2017 and Patient’s Choice Award, and The Most Compassionate Doctor Award on Vitals.com. He is also an active member of various professional and academic organizations in cosmetic surgery and is a trainer for talented surgeons as a faculty member of the Southern Surgical Arts’ American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery’s Fellowship Program.

Southern Surgical Arts has a similar history of quality, being the first facility in the United States to earn the Center of Excellence in Plastic Surgery and Body Contouring accreditations from the nonprofit Surgical Review Corporation. Their highly-trained and experienced surgical staff, exceptional customer care, and state-of-the-art facilities have made them one of the best cosmetic surgery practices in the United States.

This focus on quality, combined with Dr. Deal’s adaptations for COVID-19, has allowed the company to thrive amidst COVID-19. Today, the company has grown to a national company with 50 employees and $9.5 million in gross sales for 2020. Dr. Deal’s online and social media efforts have paid off for both him and his companies, with his Instagram growing to almost 500,000 followers and patients from as far as New York and California visiting their facility in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
