In northern Denmark, an IKEA showroom was converted into a big bedroom. Six customers and two dozen employees were stranded by a snowstorm and spent the night in the store, sleeping in the beds on show.
Up to 30 centimeters of snow fell, trapping the customers and employees when the store in Aalborg closed on Wednesday.
“We slept in the furniture shops and our showroom on the 1st floor, where we have mattresses, beds, and sofa beds,” store manager Elmose told the Ekstra Bladet tabloid. People can “pick the exact bed they always have wanted to try.”
Elmose said they spent the evening watching TV and eating, adding it went well. It’s been a perfect night. A lot of fun.”
Denmark’s broadcaster DR said people working in a toy shop are next to IKEA and spent the night in the store.
“It is better than sleeping in a car. It has been nice and pleasant, and we are just happy that they let us in,” Michelle Barrett, one of the toy shop employees, DR, said.
“We just laughed a lot at the situation because we will not experience it again,” Barrett added.
